I joined the Niseko Academy for the 2014/15 winter season. I had been skiing for about 6 years and I had 2 seasons in Canada and France under my belt, so I thought I was already an advanced skier.
However over the next 12 weeks, I completely rediscovered the sport. My understanding and my skill set improved so much, thanks to my trainer Simon. I never thought that in the land of powder skiing, I would learn to love carving down groomers!
I also had an unbelievable amount of fun whilst training. All the staff at Niseko Academy were friendly and helpful, as well as highly skilled riders. The mountain was great, with some of the best tree runs I’ve ever skied and the village was a beautiful place to live. The local food is delicious and also affordable when you know where to look.
I’d highly recommend the Niseko Academy for anyone looking to gain the NZSIA qualification, whilst having an amazing season of skiing!
